Präsidentin Sahle-Work im Fokus

Präsidentin Sahle-Work setzt sich bei ihrer Jungfernrede in der UN-Generalversammlung in New York dafür ein, dass Entwicklungsländer mehr Unterstützung bei der Einführung erneuerbarer Energien bekommen: "President Sahle-Work Zewde said delivering timely and adequate financial support to developing countries that are most vulnerable to climate change is important so that the transition to renewable energy can be realized quickly and successfully. President Sahle-Work Zewde made this remark at the closing of 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York." Sie verlangt mehr Einsatz der afrikanischen Länder zum Erreichen der SDGs. „We are facing unprecedented challenges. Climate change is real, posing a real threat to progress even survival, forcing us to shift resources away from development.“ Außerdem beschäftige sich mit dem Thema Bildung: „Ensuring access to quality education means less child labor, less exploitation, fewer child marriages. It allows for increased political engagement and entrepreneurial and economic activity.“

The Reporter Ethiopia hat Sahle-Works Rede zur Eröffnung der Parlamentssitzung analysiert.

Voice of America hat die Präsidentin interviewt: „First of all, I always see the glass half full. If you don't have that perspective, then it can distort your views. Second, I think we have to think of where we were like two, three years ago. I think we are [on] the right path. I think this is what we should be doing, consolidate.“

Präsidentin Sahle-Work im Video-Interview mit France 24 über Feminismus, ihre Rolle als Vorbild, die „Gender Revolution“ und ein Aufruf an alle jungen Äthiopierinnen: „Du kannst es schaffen!“

Die Präsidentin ist eine der ersten, die nach den tötlichen Ausschreitungen in Oromia eine klare Sprache findet und eine "rote Linie" überschritten sieht.
